Bricks are highly versatile and main building material for thousands of years. Because of highly compressive nature, bricks are considered to be durable, which makes them suitable for use in construction and civil engineering projects as a structural element for buildings, tunnels, bridges, walls, floors, fireplaces, or sidewalks. Because of its aesthetic appeals bricks are also being used in architectural applications nowadays.
Bricks are of many types depending on their quality, building process, manufacturing method, raw material used, shape, the purpose of use, weather-resisting capability. Below we discuss 3 basic types of bricks: Brick wall cladding, Extruded bricks, and traditional bricks.
1. Brick Wall Cladding
Brick wall cladding is a smart alternative for exposed brick. Clay bricks and roofs are among the oldest building materials and still are a popular choice and preferred by architects for interior and exterior walls, particularly in the housing market. To retain our goodwill in the client’s consideration, we are manufacturing easy-to-install smooth finish tile and rustic clay brick cladding with a natural finish.
Thin brick tile / thin brick veneer / Cladding Brick Tile made of 100% reclaimed earth in 24 lead-free glazes. Suitable for interior/exterior walls. Cladding adds beauty and elegance to the home without adding the weight, mess, and cost of concrete footings. Colors for cladding tiles are obtained after firing and are the same throughout the tile thickness. Therefore, the colors will never fade.
Extruded bricks are called as wire-cut, these are created mechanically by forcing a column of clay through a series of wires to cut the shapes. The standard brick is about 76mm high and 230 x 110mm. These types of bricks are preferred for any construction project and for those where budget presents a concern. The presence of holes (cores) helps in having good bond and interlocking between the bricks, also reduces the amount of clay required thus making them cheaper and lighter. The number or holes in each brick and their respective sizes vary based on the specification required.
3. Traditional Bricks
Traditional bricks are one which has not been standardized in size. The normal size which is adapted is 23 cm x 11.4 cm x 7.6 cm (9”x4 ½ “x3”). These create a stunning look to the wall using eco-friendly brick tiles. Because of the properties like sturdy construction, weather-resistant finish, low maintenance traditional bricks have gained more attention. The deep rusticated texture is an ideal finish for anyone looking to step away from a traditional smooth finish type brick face. The textured finish also gives a unique brushed bark effect.
